Agenda:

  1. Vote for officers. (See note 1 below).
  2.  Issue of whether the PHRC should be involved with putting (additional) benches in the park. (See Note 2 below).
  3. Report on the attempts to attain tax-deductible status for donations to the Committee, and decision on how to proceed. (See Note 3 below.)

Notes

  1. We just elected officers at our November 2013 meeting: However, the person who was elected Secretary was unable to serve, and the only person who expressed a willingness to serve in the post is the current President, yours truly, Martin Delson. Fortunately, Brian Hoffman said he would be willing to serve as President. So, I plan to resign as President at the meeting to make myself available as Secretary. We will nominate Brian as the new President, and myself as the new Secretary, see if any other candidates are willing to serve, and then vote in the new officers. The post of Vice-President is also open -- would any one like to volunteer for this (largely ceremonial) role? (Trish will remain as Treasurer.)
  2. The issue on the agenda is restricted to the question of whether we wish to investigate putting additional benches in the park. We will not allow a discussion at this time of other bench-related issues (e.g. where to place them, their design, how to discourage their misuse, their cost, how to pay for them, etc.) If we choose to proceed, these issues will be delegated to a subcommittee who will be asked to.
  3. Donations to the PHRC are not tax-deductible. Martin will report on the discussions with "Friends of Palm Haven", a non-profit with 501(c)(3) status. We will explore various alternatives to the PHRC being able to offer tax deductability for donations, and choose one to proceed with.
